Gloomy Today...

So this morning we had to wake up early, because the waterline broke... so me and the boyfriend scurried up and out of the house and down to the farm. It was already a gloomy day, so this just made it a little more ... well, gloomy! Cold and tired and we had to be whisked off to do chores earlier than usual! By the time we got to the farm, we found a dead Lakenvelder hen... on the porch... with the dogs. I don't think the dogs killed her, but it was still bothersome! I still think one of those bad dogs killed her, because well 1+1=2 right? lol, well, I'm kidding, but who else is there to blame? The evidence was all there! There's one of the culprit in black and white!

Anyways, I had a quick perk me up! I realized I really should keep account on my daily life now, because there is so much beauty everywhere! While picking up trash around the farm, I came across this little Easter Egg... looked like a bumblebee and it really made me smile! I got to go Easter Egg hunting without even trying! :) Here it is in a bucket of Chicken Treats!

So I head inside and go to grab my favorite old Eskimo jacket... and before putting it on, I look at it. Old, tattered and worn to death with love. Lots of good old memories. A bit sad to see my favorite jacket in such terrible condition, but I do love that thing...

And not more than in a week, the beautiful lilacs were in bud and blooming and are smelling wonderful! I went to a farmer's market and there were so many sprigs in glass jars up for sale! Though I think lilac bushes are a pain in the rear the majority of the year, they are something that I imagine when I think of Kansas :)

Grandma only has gosh... three types? Purple, Magenta (err... pink?), Lilac-Blue Sky and White. But they smell wonderful! :)

And then of course, while I was wandering around the wilderness, I found my flock of Lakenvelders and a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte Rooster out hunting for goodness!

I guess lately but not least, the boyfriend was digging up a way for the waterline... and he came across Buffalo bones! I asked how he knew it was buffalo bones and he says it wasn't cow bones, so I'll just believe him :)

Other than that, I had to drive into town to sell baby chicks. All twelve are now in their new home... let the hatching begin again! :)

Boy, it's hard working getting all those darn pictuers up ;) Will post more later!

Turkies? Or Turkeys?

On my way to school, I saw turkeys :) Always nice to see wild critters running around! There were four of them just running about! They went separate ways (two pairs). Well, there are my photos - the black spots in there? Yeah, them are turkeys :)

Buttons!

When I was a child, I use to love to play with buttons. My mother spent a lot of time on her sewing machine and she'd have an abundance of buttons for me to play with... there was a large bucket of them, but now that I think about it, I really never knew what happened to those buttons...

This made me think of those old days :)

ArzuMusa produces these neat buttons... I really like these blue ones! Sparklies! Mainly, I think she works with polymer clay to produce these beauties! :) The only thing I can really do with clay is make small sculptures. Anything bigger... lol not so good!

Anyways, figured I would share. I really like that bangle :) Gotta run again! Just thought I'd share something! :)

Oh My!

It's been such a long time since I've been on here... anyways, Heidi managed to hatch herself some peeps after many terrible hatch rates ;) I told her so. Me on the other hand, still bad luck! lol My French Black Copper Marans and some of her Wheaten Marans! Whee! Fuzzy footies!

BUT I have nine broody hens now... the broody fever has been spread. Running around like insane child trying to figure out what to do. I'm getting nine light sussex chicks from Emily (eminator) and one red sussex chick from her in a few days! Fingers crossed!

By the way, finally sold an item on Etsy! Yay! I was losing home ;) but got a wonderful surprise today! Wee! I'm up to par! I finally realized I've been putting my work behind, need to get off up my butt and DO WORK! So will be back! :)

My Almost Existent Accident

So while scurrying home today, I almost got in an auto collision. The person was suppose to stop (I was at fault for not paying closer attention, I think) and didn't. I actually was going and the person pretty much hit the gas pedal. Lucky me and my father's ability to yell at me every time I was learning how to drive (it was painful!) I quickly maneuvered around the car and passed the sign (which I almost hit as well). Talk about a close call!

Anyways, these are still some of Sweet Chick's chicks... they're Buff Orpington X French Black Copper Marans. I am hoping these would produce "purple" eggs, but that's me. Who knows, they look pretty neat, I'm anxious to see what they will look like as adults. I know FBCMs aren't very pretty (I don't think they are) but I love the golden orbs that BOs turn into!

So onto my next topic... when I was a child, a pair of scissors and a piece of paper were my friend. I thought about this the other day, of days gone by. Something only my sister and I and even my mother and father probably remember. I don't think I've told anyone. I would cut things out and play with them. Into high school, I got into it again, but stopped. I have always loved cutting paper and thought about doing something with it, but never thought it was anything special. I recently found someone on etsy who cuts stuff... from paper. It is so talented and she is Asian. It makes me think, maybe Asians have a thing with paper? Origami? Paper cutting and folding? Hey, I'm trying :)

Meh. I will fix the pictures. Just look up :) That's swipka's work. Beautiful, isn't it? Any who, I am doing college paperwork, so I will get back later to tell more stories and add more blogginess! :)

I'm all chicked-up! It seems everyone has peepers everywhere! Mine are to hatch Thursday/Friday - gonna go pick the up then! Hopefully a lot hatch out!

Well, I believe I shipped out 30 eggs with 6 freebies... 23 hatched out! I'm so excited! I think I at the time didn't know I could ship out 36 eggs, so I believe I only shipped her out 30. Boo hoo! Ha! So congrats to Sweet Chicks!
